Santa Cruz
Breakers Beach House

A new 2,100 sq. ft. two story beach house designed for a surfer couple just a few yards from the bluffs in Santa Cruz's Pleasure Point neighborhood. A casual assemblage of local vernacular architecture informed by the consistent scale and simple materials of nearby cottages, shacks, and bungalows. These influences were distilled down to a palette of board and batt, clapboard, and cedar shiplap, and synthesized with bolder forms that evoke images of nearby Capitola Wharf, beach guard towers, and the clients surf shack program requirements.
